My name is Chet Highsmith, a local Philadelphia Artist and the owner of,"Paint-In With Chet". Growing up in the 80's City of Philadelphia I've always had aspirations of being an artist. I graduated from Overbook High School where many stars have been born and where I received my foundation training. After graduation I desired to go on and do more however life on life terms happened.
I married, had 2 beautiful children and landed a full time, full benefits position with the city, and have been there for the past twenty years. During that time I would doodle here and doodle there, nothing big or great, but everyone would say that I was wasting my God given talent.
In 2013 I was in an unfortunate accident that crushed my dominate hand and wrist. The pain was evident but after the pain and surgery the fears set in on how the usage of my hand and wrist would be. I needed to work to take care of my family and I wanted to continue to doodle with my art. Rehab was of course a must but who would have thought that all of those endless nights doing homework for Overbook's art class would be the perfect remedy for my hand and my talent. I spent many nights as a student drawing straight lines of doorways and shadows of cups, as assignments. It taught me perspective as a student and it gave me the jump start I needed to use what God gave me and what I am so inspired to do.
Since my so fortunate accident in 2013 I have started my own business, "Paint-In With Chet", Paint-in with Chet, is a personalized painting party business. It does mirror, the concept of the traditional party and paint with your friends however, We Bring The Party To You... I've also done many personal pieces that reflect love, music and beauty through many different styles, mediums and expressions of color.
